Christmas gift for the cook in your family…….

Home

This week was a challenge to finish getting all the boards done that I needed to complete. I am finally caught up which gives me spare time to clean, organize the shop and start a few new boards. There are only eight days left that I can make boards and get them shipped so that everyone receives their board before Christmas. Looks likes next week will be very busy!

4/4 walnut lumber with character

I purchased more walnut this week and when it arrived I was very happy 🙂 . There is so much character in this walnut, the colors and grain patterns are beautiful. I can’t wait to work with this walnut.

For the cook, food preparer or the one that likes to entertain in your family that LOVES wood, I have some really beautiful one of a kind handmade cutting boards. If you are looking for a special gift that is personal and useful, which makes more of a treasured gift, look at my cutting and serving boards. All of my boards are handmade and are both beautiful and functional.

A good cutting board belongs in every kitchen. It helps if one has at least two cutting boards in the kitchen.  Use one for savory food preparation and one for baking & desserts. However, if you enjoy entertaining guests on a regular basis, you may want to have multiple boards for cheese tastings, hors d’oeuvres, wine tastings and dessert displays.

All of my boards are crafted of individually selected pieces of lumber. The quality of each board can be attributed to its sleek design, invisible joints, rounded edges and smoothness. The surfaces of the wood are hand-sanded to a smooth finish. When completed, each board is treated with a blend of beeswax and food-safe mineral oil.

Look at the character in these boards! The round cutting boards with the paddle handle are available in several sizes. Perfect for a Sandwich or Breakfast Board.

As you can see in the pictures, please note that each board is slightly unique in grain and color.

  1. I’m beginning to wonder why I didn’t order a tear drop as well!!—I may wait until you use those new boards of walnut to pick myself a little post christmas gift… to Julie from Julie 🙂 I wrapped up today the round cutting board with paddle handle for my step mother, Abby’s walnut block, and I’ve decided to send her family the small round walnut serving / cutting board. I definitely think something walnut 🙂
Thank you Michael, each board is equally beautiful–there is just something so warm and special about wood—Merry Christmas my friend!!

    • Hello Julie!
Sounds like you were busy wrapping gifts today! 🙂 A good day to be inside, my rain gauge had nearly 3 inches of rain in it by 3:00 this afternoon. It rain so hard that our gutters over flowed. We had to go to Toy’s r Us to pick up a few gifts early this evening and our creek was still full.

The walnut I received this week has character a lot like the round board with the paddle handle I made you. I work with a lot of different north American and exotic woods and I like walnut the best. The Brazilian cherry is nice to work but it is terrible on all my blades because it is so hard and heavy but it is beautiful. 🙂

      thank you Julie,
Merry Christmas to you and all your family!

      • No we didn’t Michael, and I’m glad for now at least. It will make it easier to get around during the Christmas celebrations. What came in last week has just today finally all melted in most places. It was mostly ice though and so dangerous to walk on and drive on. We’re actually gonna be in the 60’s for most of next week, and I’m ready for a little warm-up before the next blast hits. Hope all is well where you are. Blessings, Natalie 🙂
