Morning y’all,
It’s New Year’s eve, the last day of 2013 and it’s another gorgeous morning on the mountain. The high yesterday reached 47 degrees with the overnight low hitting 34 degrees. It’s currently 37 degrees and clear at 7am. By Friday it is suppose to be in the low 20’s and with a high around 30 and a chance of snow. It would be nice to see a little snow.
Are you celebrating this evening? How will you welcome the arrival of 2014? Perhaps a night out at your favorite restaurant for delicious food, a movie, fancy dress and a little champagne. Watch the ball drop, fireworks and the elusive promise of a kiss at the end of the night!

We have a gorgeous day.. cold with beautiful hoar frost! So I will be photographing everything this morning! No big plans for tonight, just a quiet one this year. Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful New Year!!
That’s cool,..Hoar frost is beautiful, about two weeks ago we had rime ice, just as beautiful! We are also having a quiet evening as well. Happy New Year!
What is rime ice, it sounds intriguing!
Rime ice is similar to hoar ice, it forms when liquid water droplets in the air freeze onto a surface, growing into what looks like needles or frost spikes 2 inches or longer. Hoar ice uniformly encircles the branches where rime ice doesn’t encircle the branches, it spikes out like needles, usually in the opposite direction of the wind. It is very frosty white in color.
