It was dark and late, I was sitting on our deck having a glass of wine and could hear the usual crickets, frogs, coyotes howling in the distance, etc. and lots of acorns hitting the ground. It was continuous nearly without stopping. We have a lot of acorn trees and they are full of acorns this year, so I thought I would take a picture and post this morning.
Our temperatures continue to be cool and refreshing, 59 degrees F this morning.
How about it your area, are the acorns falling too?
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
awesome! a good crop for deer, squirrels, hogs, whatever. 🙂 our oaks don’t have them, yet.
Yep, we have not seen any hogs on the mountain but they are suppose to be here!
Don’t know about acorns but if my bare feet step on one more half-eaten-by-the-squirrels pecan, I’m going to get a sling shot after those onery things! 🙂
I hear you Kelli, it’s aggravating 🙂
Looks like a hard winter ahead.
Heavy acorns and a lot of foggy mornings in August equals snow .
Probably, I think Fall is coming a lot earlier this year too!
Acorns and leaves falling plus the temps for the next couple of nights are going to be in the 40s. Summer is over. 😦
Oh wow, already in the 40’s, that is fall already!
predictors of a cold winter I fear 🙂
Yes, I am ok with the cold, just don’t want much snow and ice! I hope you guys are having fun! 🙂
I’m not even packed—we’ll leave out about 10 tomorrow morning…quick trip, coming home Monday. . .
looks like rain —I’m ready for cooler weather that’s for sure—not even really excited about the beach as I’m so over summer!!! But once I get there, I’ll be happy 🙂
plus I need some new good pictures 🙂
hugs—Julie
I sure it doesn’t rain on yall! I am over summer too, ready for the cooler weather but hope we don’t have a lot of snow and ice this year. You will get excited once you see the beach and get your toes in the water!! 🙂 Have fun!
No acorns falling near our house, hazelnuts already fallen, temperatures due to fall tomorrow… drastically to 13 degrees! Brrrr! 🙂
That’s pretty cold already 🙂
Acorns are starting to fall and from the ones I’ve noticed, seem to be a bit on the smallish side…
Hey Benjamin, you can that our acorns are fairly large but I have seen larger and small over the years! 🙂
It’s Spring and I’ve never seen an oak tree here so I suspect we don’t have any. 🙂
Yea, I love Spring!
Sure sign that Fall is around the corner.
good evening Suzanne! Yep, just hope that it doesn’t mean that we winter will be here quicker 😦
We’re having another good year for acorns but I haven’t seen any beech nuts.
Wonder why no beech nuts? We have a good many beech nuts this year 🙂
Sounds like the life! Slippery little things when walking across campus here in Chapel Hill.
Yea, quite time for me on our deck with a glass of wine!
That is so cool! We don’t have many mature trees in our yard, so acorns are few and far between. And so far, we’re still enjoying summery temps, but the mornings are definitely feeling a bit cooler!
thank you Allie! I hope it continues to get cooler for you! 🙂
You just reminded me that I need to start checking around for the Acorns as we gather them to feed squirrels in the winter. I really like that shot of the leaves and acorns on the tree.
Hello Ida! That’s great idea! We have a lot of deer and squirrels that will eat them as they fall!
It all sounds great except for the coyotes in the distance! They are scary!!
Yes, they are, we see them come thru our property about every morning around 6:00 am, generally a pack of 6 of more.
That’s a lot of mouse and squirrel food… they seem to multiply hugely after a good year!
Probably you have and large leaves around to raking 🙂
Yes, lots of large leaves but no racking for me since we live on a mountain we don’t need to rack!
Greets 🙂
