Fall Blooms

blue and white hydrangea flower

As I walked in the garden this morning I couldn’t help but notice a few late fall flowers blooming. Since we are now having cool mornings with temperatures in the 50’s I didn’t expect to see any flowers. This hydrangea is on the south side of our home and has done well there. It has grow nearly 4 foot high and 4 foot wide.  This was the only flower!

Canadian Geese

Home

canadian geese eating grass

I was headed back home today and noticed a flock of canadian geese landing in a school yard not too far from our home. I keep a camera in the back seat so I was able to get a few pictures. They came out nicely. We have alot of canadian geese around our area. They have a black head and neck with white patches on the faces, brown, gray body and large webbed feet. They are a large water bird, weighing up to twenty five pounds and twenty two to forty eight inches in length.

These geese can be quite aggressive, a couple of the larger birds got agitated by my presence and hissed at me. I remember when my children were young, maybe 3-4 years old, we had a large white goose come out of a lake and preceeded to attack my youngest daughter, who knows what would have happen if I had not been near by.

As you can see, canadian geese are grazers, eat mostly grasses, grains, seeds and aquatic vegetation.
