Our warm weather has brought out the black bears looking wondering and looking for food. Today is the third time I have seen this bear and he or she is always head up the mountain away from our home. I was lucky enough to get a picture today, beautiful bear!
Have a wonderful weekend!
just beautiful, michael!
thank you Tex! I got lucky on getting a picture 🙂
oooo, that’s a big one Michael—do be careful—I do love seeing these animals. And know that I appreciate your prayers for Brenton—I’ll e-mail you letting you know how things go…
Blessings to you and a happy mother’s day to your wife–Julie
My guess is that it weight between 200 to 200 lbs. I was on the side of the house watering my hydrangeas and heard something thinking it might be deer. When I walk to the driveway and looked up there he was. I ran to get my camera which was on the foyer table. I got lucky and got one good shot, the others are blurry.
I am sure Brenton’s surgery will go well, it’s after the surgery, getting his bladder going again, etc.
Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Michael
I pray you have a blessed weekend as well, Michael. Hugs, Natalie 🙂
thank you Natalie! 🙂
Absolutely great. But isn´t that quite dangerous? The only time in my life I saw bears was in the zoo, when I was little. Have a lovely weekend, too!
Yes, it can be but generally black bears are afraid of humans unless a mother bear has cubs and feels threaten. I was about 150 feet from this bear but he seemed in a hurry, good for me! 🙂
A beauty! Great shot – hope you weren’t as near as it looks from the photo… Have a great weekend too Michael, and take care!
thank you Cathy, I was about 150 feet, my camera has a nice zoom lens. 🙂
how incredible! I’d *love* to see a bear in the wild like this, though I’d probably be to scared to breathe 🙂
They are beautiful, over the years living on the mountain I have seen about a dozen and all have been scared of me 🙂
That’s a great shot, but a little too close for comfort. Your house must be in his territory.
thank you Allen, I have a pretty good zoom lens, I was probably about 150 feet from this bear and he seems to be in a hurry headed up the mountain above me 🙂
Wow, I’m glad you were using a zoom lens!!! Great shot!
Glad you were able to capture a photo, and glad it’s heading away from your home. 🙂

We used to see black bears in the Smokies frequently. It was always fun but we knew to stay away from the babies. 🙂
Gorgeous picture!
What a beautiful bear! So glad you finally got a photo of her. How are you, Michael?
thank you Elizabeth, 🙂
Congratulations to this opportunity!
Uta
Hi Uta, we have a few black bears that hang around the mountain all the time but I have seen this one 3 times now! 🙂
Thank you for visiting my site, I am headed to visit your site now! 🙂
That is a strong-looking bear. I hope he is not trying to find food around your house (dog or cat food?).
Yes, I figure he or she weighs in the neighborhood of 250-300 lbs. Each time he has traveled in the same trail up and down the mountain from our creek. I found tracks all along the creek bed. We keep our trash cart and everything inside the garage, learned this the hard way many years ago when the raccoons got into the trash cart. I was picking up trash for a week.
