Black Walnut and hard rock Maple end grain board
Hi, I happened upon your blog and your work is incredible!
I like to do pyrography (wood burning) so I recently read up on the different types of wood that are used for cutting boards and spoons. I read how you have to be careful when wood burning to use untreated wood to prevent the fumes that are given off when burning from being toxic. I can’t seem to find a place to buy untreated wooden spoons. I am looking to order spoons made from good quality untreated wood. Do you know how to make spoons?
Looking forward to hearing back,
Shevi
Hi Shevi,
thank you Shevi and I am glad you found my site. I have several followers that do wood burning but on flat work. They buy my maple boards and do wood burning scenes. I have made wooden spoons many years ago but I really don’t make them any more. I searched around Google and here are a couple sites you should look at; http://www.handcraftedwoodenspoons.com/ and http://nataliebaszile.wordpress.com/2013/03/13/handmade-stephens-wooden-spoons/ or http://brooklyntowest.blogspot.com/2013/05/giveaway-and-magic-of-spoons.html
Good luck,
Michael
